Mechanism of action (MOA)

1. Febuxostat: Selectively inhibits xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that produces uric acid, lowering serum uric acid levels and preventing the formation of urate crystals that cause gout

Indications

1. Management of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout
2. Prevention of gout flares associated with urate crystal deposition
3. Suitable for patient’s intolerant to allopurinol
4. Used to lower serum uric acid levels in adults with gout
